Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 cups red lentils (masoor dal), soaked for 2 hours and drained
- 2 onions, chopped
- 4 green chillies, chopped (adjust to taste)
- Handful of chopped fresh coriander (cilantro)
- Salt to taste
- Oil for frying
Instructions:
- Prepare Lentil Batter:
- Soak the red lentils in water for 2 hours. Drain the water thoroughly.
- Blend the soaked lentils to a coarse paste using a food processor or blender.
- Mixing Ingredients:
- In a large bowl, combine the blended lentils with chopped onions, green chillies, chopped coriander, and salt to taste.
- Mix everything thoroughly until well combined.
- Let the mixture sit for 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
- Frying:
- Heat oil in a frying pan or skillet over medium heat.
- Take spoonfuls of the lentil mixture and gently drop them into the hot oil, shaping them into flat patties (like pancakes) with the back of the spoon.
- Fry the fritters until golden brown and crispy on both sides, flipping them carefully to ensure even cooking.
- Serve:
- Once cooked, remove the fritters from the oil and drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.
- Serve hot with chutney, yogurt, or any dipping sauce of your choice.
