🍋🌺 “Natural Mounjaro”–Style Ginger Turmeric Elixir

This homemade drink is a flavored hibiscus-and-citrus beverage made with ginger, turmeric, apple cider vinegar, and black pepper. Despite the popular nickname, it is not Mounjaro (tirzepatide) and should not be expected to produce the same effects as a prescription medication.

🛒 Ingredients

For about 6–8 servings:

  • 6 cups water
  • 3–4 hibiscus tea bags, or 2 tablespoons dried hibiscus
  • 1 fresh lemon, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 2-inch piece fresh ginger, thinly sliced or grated
  • 1 teaspoon ground turmeric, or 1 tablespoon freshly grated turmeric
  • ¼ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons raw apple cider vinegar
  • 1–2 tablespoons honey or another sweetener, optional
  • Ice, optional

👩‍🍳 Instructions

1. Make the hibiscus base.
Bring 6 cups of water to a boil. Remove from the heat and add the hibiscus tea bags or dried hibiscus. Cover and steep for 8–10 minutes. The longer it steeps, the stronger and more tart the drink will be.

2. Add the ginger.
While the tea is still warm, add the sliced or grated ginger. Let it steep for another 5–10 minutes so the ginger flavor becomes stronger.

3. Add turmeric and black pepper.
Stir in the turmeric and black pepper. Whisk well so the turmeric is distributed throughout the drink. Black pepper is traditionally paired with turmeric, although adding it does not make this beverage equivalent to any medication.

4. Add the lemon.
Remove the tea bags or strain out the dried hibiscus and ginger if desired. Allow the mixture to cool slightly, then add the lemon juice and several fresh lemon slices.

5. Add apple cider vinegar.
Once the drink is warm rather than very hot, stir in 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar. Start with less if you aren’t accustomed to its strong, acidic flavor.

6. Sweeten if desired.
Taste the drink. If it’s too tart, add a small amount of honey or your preferred sweetener. You can also leave it unsweetened.

7. Chill.
Transfer the mixture to a clean glass pitcher and refrigerate for at least 1–2 hours. Serve over ice with fresh lemon and ginger slices.

🥤 How to Serve

Pour about ¾–1 cup into a glass and dilute with a little cold water if the flavor is strong. Add ice, a lemon slice, and a few thin ginger slices for a refreshing drink.

❄️ Storage

Keep the finished drink refrigerated in a covered glass container and use it within 3–4 days. Shake or stir before serving because turmeric and other ingredients can settle at the bottom.

⚠️ A Few Important Notes

Apple cider vinegar is acidic, so don’t drink it undiluted. It can irritate the throat and may affect tooth enamel. Hibiscus and ginger can also interact with some medications or affect blood pressure or blood sugar in some people. If you take regular medication or have a medical condition, check with your healthcare professional before making this a daily drink.

And most importantly, “Natural Mounjaro” is only a nickname for this type of homemade drink—it does not contain tirzepatide and is not a natural substitute for Mounjaro.
