🌯🔥 Keto Air Fryer Burritos

These Keto Air Fryer Burritos are crispy on the outside, cheesy and juicy on the inside, with seasoned ground beef and fresh vegetables. Using a low-carb tortilla keeps the burrito much lower in carbs than a traditional version. Air-frying low-carb wraps until golden and crisp is a popular way to make them.

  • 1 lb (450 g) ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • ½ small onion, finely diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ small bell pepper, diced
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 cup shredded Mexican cheese blend or cheddar
  • ¼ cup chopped jalapeños (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro

🥑 Optional Toppings

  • Sour cream or plain Greek yogurt
  • Avocado
  • Sugar-free salsa
  • Shredded lettuce
  • Diced tomatoes
  • Extra jalapeños
  • Lime wedges

👩‍🍳 How to Make Them

1. Cook the beef

Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.

Add the diced onion and bell pepper.

Cook for 3–4 minutes, until they begin to soften.

Add the garlic and cook for another 30 seconds.

2. Brown the beef

Add the ground beef.

Break it apart with a wooden spoon and cook for approximately 7–9 minutes, until completely browned and cooked through.

Drain excess grease if necessary.

3. Season the filling

Add:

  • Chili powder
  • Cumin
  • Paprika
  • Garlic powder
  • Oregano
  • Salt
  • Black pepper

Stir everything together and cook for another 1–2 minutes.

For a spicy burrito, add the jalapeños.

4. Add cheese

Turn the heat to low.

Stir in about ½ cup of the shredded cheese and the chopped cilantro.

Mix until the cheese begins to melt.

Remove from the heat and allow the filling to cool for a couple of minutes.

🌯 Assemble the Burritos

5. Warm the tortillas

Warm each low-carb tortilla for about 10–15 seconds in the microwave.

This makes them flexible and less likely to crack while rolling.

6. Fill

Place one tortilla on a flat surface.

Add approximately ¼ of the beef mixture to the center.

Sprinkle with some of the remaining cheese.

Don’t overfill—the burrito will be much easier to roll if you leave space around the edges.

7. Fold

Fold the left and right sides toward the center.

Then fold the bottom edge over the filling.

Roll tightly upward until you have a sealed burrito.

Place it seam-side down.

🔥 Air Fryer Instructions

8. Preheat

Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for about 3 minutes if your model requires preheating.

9. Air fry

Lightly spray the outside of each burrito with cooking spray or brush with a tiny amount of olive oil.

Place the burritos seam-side down in the air fryer basket.

Don’t overcrowd them.

10. Cook

Air fry at 375°F for 8–10 minutes, turning halfway through.

For a darker, crunchier exterior, cook for another 1–2 minutes.

Air-fryer wrap recipes commonly use roughly 375–400°F and short cooking times to create a crisp exterior.

11. Rest and serve

Remove the burritos and let them rest for 2–3 minutes.

Cut them in half diagonally.

You should have a golden, crispy tortilla with melted cheese and juicy seasoned beef inside. 😋

🥑 Keto Sauce

Mix together:

  • ½ cup sour cream
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 1 tablespoon chopped cilantro
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • Pinch of salt
  • A little hot sauce

Serve alongside the hot burritos for dipping.

⭐ Tips for the Best Keto Burritos

  • Use a burrito-size low-carb tortilla so it has enough room for the filling.
  • Don’t make the filling watery; excess moisture can make the tortilla soggy.
  • Don’t overstuff.
  • Place the burritos seam-side down in the air fryer.
  • A light spray of oil helps the tortilla become beautifully crisp.
  • If your tortillas are fragile, warm them slightly before rolling.
  • For an even lower-carb version, use a cheese-based keto tortilla instead of a flour-style low-carb wrap.

🌶️ Easy Variations

Chicken: Replace beef with shredded cooked chicken.

Breakfast: Fill with scrambled eggs, bacon, cheddar and avocado.

Cheesy: Add extra mozzarella or cheddar inside.

Spicy: Add jalapeños, cayenne and hot sauce.

Taco-style: Add avocado, lettuce, cilantro and a little sugar-free salsa.

Extra protein: Use lean ground beef or ground turkey and add a little extra cheese.

🧊 Storage & Reheating

Store cooked burritos in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3–4 days.

To reheat, place them in the air fryer at 350°F for 4–6 minutes until hot and crispy again.

For meal prep, you can assemble the burritos ahead of time and refrigerate them before air frying.
