Ingredients
1/2 onion, grated or pureed (keep the liquid from the onion)
2 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 teaspoon minced ginger
1/2 teaspoon miso paste or gochujang
1/2 cup low sodium soy sauce
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
1 tablespoon sesame seeds, toasted and cooled
1 teaspoon sesame oil (optional)
Preparation
In a microwave-safe bowl combine the prepped onion, garlic, ginger, and miso paste, whisking to combine.
Add in soy sauce, sugar, and sesame seeds, whisk again to combine.
Microwave the sauce for 30 to 40 seconds, or until the sugar dissolves.
Finally add in the sesame oil (if using).
You can use the sauce immediately or you can transfer it to a glass container and refrigerate it until you’re ready to use it.
