Preparation: Begin by combining the self-raising flour, baking powder, and mixed spice in a bowl. Using your fingers, rub the butter into the flour mixture until it resembles breadcrumbs. Next, add the sugar and mixed dried fruit, ensuring they are evenly distributed throughout the mixture.
Cooking Instructions: In a separate bowl, beat the egg and milk together, then add them to the dry ingredients. Mix everything together until a dough forms, ensuring all the ingredients are well combined. The dough should be slightly sticky but manageable.
Final Steps: Preheat your air fryer to 160°C (320°F) and line a baking tray with parchment paper. Using a tablespoon, scoop out portions of the dough and place them on the prepared tray, leaving space between each bun. Sprinkle a little sugar over the top of each bun for added sweetness.
