Ingredients
- 1 pound lean ground beef
- ¼ tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp seasoned salt
- 1 tsp parsley, dried
- 3 eggs
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 pound mushrooms, sliced
- 6 ounces cream cheese, softened to room temperature
- 1 cup shredded or grated cheese, (Parmesan, Mozzarella, Cheddar)
Instructions
FIRST STEP:
Preheat the oven to 350*
Brown the lean ground beef in a large skillet.
SECOND STEP:
Season with the Salt and Pepper
Set aside to cool
THIRD STEP:
Using a mixer, beat the cream cheese until smooth, add the eggs one at a time, until well mixed
Pour over the ground beef and stir to combine
FOURTH STEP:
Place this mixture into a small baking dish and press down
In the frying pan, add butter and saute the mushrooms
FIFTH STEP:
Sprinkle with salt and pepper, seasoning salt and parsley
Cook until soft and when they start to turn brown
SIXTH STEP:
Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, until the casserole is set
SEVENTH STEP:
Bread crumbs or crushed crackers can be sprinkled on top during the last ten minutes
Sprinkle with grated cheese and let the cheese melt before removing from the oven.
Notes
This dish can be served with a plate of white rice, or with homemade mashed potatoes. A dinner salad on the side makes it the perfect combination and filling meal.
We usually have a roasted vegetable such as asparagus or green beans, and some homemade garlic toast as a side.
This dish is a meal itself, it never hurts to add some extra vegetables in your meal. I also tend to add some onions in the skillet when I am browning the ground beef. Saute until they turn opaque and are softened.
This is a very versatile meal that you can add to, using basically anything your family enjoys.
