Air Fryer Green Beans

Prep Time: 5 minutes
Cook Time: 10 minutes
Total Time: 15 minutes
Servings: 4

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound fresh green beans (or frozen/canned, see notes below)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder (or 2 cloves fresh garlic, minced)
  • ½ teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • Optional: ½ teaspoon onion powder or a sprinkle of red pepper flakes for added flavor

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Green Beans:
    • If using fresh green beans, rinse them under cool water, trim the ends, and pat them dry with a paper towel.
    • For frozen green beans, run them under cool water, then pat them dry to prevent steaming in the air fryer.
    • If using canned green beans, drain them thoroughly and pat them dry.
  2. Season the Beans:
    • In a large bowl, combine the green beans, olive oil, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. If desired, add onion powder or red pepper flakes for extra flavor. Toss until the green beans are evenly coated.
  3. Air Fry the Green Beans:
    • Place the seasoned green beans in the air fryer basket in a single layer for optimal crispiness. You may need to work in batches if your air fryer is small.
    • Cook at 400°F (200°C) for 10 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through to ensure even cooking.
  4. Check for Doneness:
    • After 10 minutes, check if the green beans are tender and slightly crispy. If you prefer them crispier, air fry for an additional 1-2 minutes.
  5. Serve:
    • Remove the green beans from the air fryer and let them cool slightly before serving. They pair perfectly with potatoes, rice, or noodles alongside proteins like chicken, steak, or salmon.

Storage:

  • Store leftover green beans in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in the air fryer at 400°F (200°C) for 1-2 minutes.

Tips:

  • Preheating: Preheating the air fryer is optional for this recipe. It can make the cooking time quicker, but starting with a cold air fryer allows for easier ingredient addition.
  • Flavor Variations: Experiment with different spices such as smoked paprika, lemon zest, or parmesan cheese for variety.
