Ingredients

For the Base:

  • 1 pita bread (white or whole wheat)
  • 1 tablespoon pizza sauce
  • 1/4 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 drizzle extra virgin olive oil

Toppings (Optional):

  • 7 slices pepperoni (or more, to taste)
  • 1/4 cup cooked sausage
  • 1 tablespoon thinly sliced yellow or brown onion
  • 1/2 teaspoon minced fresh garlic

Instructions

1. Assemble the Pizza

  • Lay the pita bread flat on a plate or cutting board.
  • Spread the pizza sauce evenly over the surface using the back of a spoon.
  • Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese on top.
  • Add your favorite toppings like pepperoni, sausage, onions, or garlic.
  • Drizzle a small amount of olive oil over the assembled pizza for added flavor.

2. Prepare the Air Fryer

  • Preheat the air fryer to 350°F (175°C) for about 2-3 minutes.
  • Place a short stainless steel trivet inside the air fryer basket (this helps keep the toppings in place).

3. Cook the Pizza

  • Carefully place the assembled pita pizza on top of the trivet.
  • Air fry at 350°F (175°C) for 6 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly, and the edges of the pita are crispy.

4. Serve

  • Use tongs to carefully remove the pizza from the air fryer.
  • Let cool for a minute, then slice into wedges and serve warm.

Tips

  • Custom Toppings: Use any toppings you like, such as bell peppers, mushrooms, olives, or fresh basil.
  • Healthier Option: Swap regular pita for whole wheat or gluten-free pita bread.
  • Crispier Base: Lightly toast the pita in the air fryer for 1 minute before adding the toppings.
