Air Fryer Philly Cheesesteak Egg Rolls
Ingredients:
- 12 egg roll wrappers
- 1 tablespoon of light butter
- 2 cups of mozzarella cheese (shredded)
- 1/2 teaspoon of chili powder
- 1 green bell pepper (finely chopped)
- 1 yellow onion (finely chopped)
- 2 tablespoons of olive oil
- 1 packet of Sazon seasoning
- 1 pack of flank steak or ribeye steak
- A pinch of salt and black pepper
- 1 teaspoon of garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon of onion powder
- For the Egg Wash:
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon of water
- Olive oil spray (for air frying)
Instructions:
- Prepare the Filling:
- Finely chop your green bell pepper and yellow onion.
- Preheat a skillet over medium heat, adding olive oil once hot.
- Sauté the bell pepper and onion in the skillet for about 2-3 minutes, or until they soften.
- Cut the flank steak or ribeye steak into small pieces and add them to the skillet. Cook until browned, about 7-8 minutes.
- Season with Sazon seasoning, onion powder, chili powder, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Stir to combine.
- Add a tablespoon of light butter, stirring to melt and incorporate. Let the mixture simmer for an additional minute, then remove from heat.
- Assemble the Egg Rolls:
- Lay out an egg roll wrapper on a clean surface. Place a spoonful of the steak mixture in the center and sprinkle with mozzarella cheese.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the egg and water to make the egg wash.
- Brush the edges of the wrapper with the egg wash. Fold the bottom corner over the filling, then fold in the sides, and roll tightly to seal the egg roll. Use more egg wash to seal the edges.
- Air Fry the Egg Rolls:
- Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for 3-5 minutes.
- Lightly spray the assembled egg rolls with olive oil spray on all sides.
- Place the egg rolls in a single layer in the air fryer basket, ensuring they do not touch or overlap. Depending on the size of your air fryer, you may need to work in batches.
- Air fry the egg rolls at 400°F (200°C) for 8-10 minutes, flipping them halfway through cooking, until they are crispy and golden brown.
- Serve:
- Remove the egg rolls from the air fryer and let them cool slightly before serving.
