Ingredients

  • 1 block (8 ounces/226g) Miyokos mozzarella, cubed into about 20-22 bite-sized pieces.

Breading Mixture

  • ½ cup (60g) fine breadcrumbs
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon dried parsley flakes
  • ¼ teaspoon paprika
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ⅛ teaspoon black pepper

Additional Ingredients

  • ½ cup (60g) all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup (120ml) non-dairy milk, unsweetened and unflavored
  • Spray oil

Instructions

  1. Prepare Mozzarella Cubes:
    • Cut the vegan mozzarella into bite-sized cubes (about 1 inch each). Place them on a dish and freeze for 15 minutes.
  2. Prepare Breading Mixture:
    • Mix the breadcrumbs, garlic powder, dried parsley flakes, paprika, salt, and black pepper on a small plate.
  3. Set Up Breading Station:
    • Pour the flour into one small bowl and the non-dairy milk into another small bowl.
  4. Bread the Mozzarella Cubes:
    • Take one cube of frozen vegan mozzarella, coat it in flour, then dip it in the non-dairy milk, and then coat it in the breadcrumb mixture.
    • Repeat the milk and breadcrumb steps (double coating) to ensure a thick, even layer.
    • Shake off any excess flour, milk, or breadcrumbs between steps.
    • Place the breaded cube on a dish to the side. Designate one hand for dry ingredients (flour and breadcrumbs) and one hand for wet ingredients (milk) to keep the process clean.
  5. Freeze Again:
    • Once all cubes are breaded, place them back in the freezer for another 15 minutes.
  6. Air Fry the Mozzarella Bites:
    • Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (204°C).
    • Generously spray all sides of the breaded cubes with spray oil.
    • Place the cubes in the air fryer basket, ensuring they are spaced out for even cooking.
    • Cook for 12 minutes, or until golden and crispy. Depending on your air fryer size, you may need to do this in batches. Adjust cooking time and temperature as needed for your specific air fryer model.
  7. Garnish and Serve:
    • When done, garnish with coarse sea salt and fresh parsley or oregano if desired.
