CHICKEN POT PIE RECIPE:
Ingredients:
- 2 pie crusts (homemade or store-bought)
- 1/3 cup unsalted butter
- 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 3/4 cups chicken broth
- 2/3 cup milk
- 2 cups cooked, shredded chicken
- 1 cup frozen peas and carrots
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
Instructions: - Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Take out your pie crusts and let them sit at room temperature while you prepare the filling.
- In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
- Once the butter is melted, whisk in the flour, salt, black pepper, onion powder, and garlic powder. Continue to whisk until the mixture is smooth and bubbly.
- Slowly add in the chicken broth and milk, whisking constantly to prevent lumps from forming.
- Bring the mixture to a boil and stir for 1-2 minutes until it thickens.
- Add in the chicken, frozen peas and carrots, and chopped onion. Mix well.
- Pour the mixture into the bottom pie crust.
- Place the top pie crust over the filling and crimp the edges to seal the pie.
- Cut a few slits into the top crust to allow steam to escape.
- Bake the pie for 30-35 minutes or until the crust is golden brown.
- Allow the pie to cool for a few minutes before serving.
