Vegan Salami

Ingredients

Dry Ingredients

  • Vital Wheat gluten 1cup
  • Smoked paprika 2tsp
  • Onion powder 1tsp
  • Fennel seeds 1tsp

  • Parsley 1tsp
  • Salt 1tsp
  • Dried Oregano 1tsp
  • Black pepper 1tsp
  • Red chili pepper 1tsp

Wet Ingredients

  • Low sodium vegetable broth 1/2cup
  • Tomato sauce 2 tbsp. You can also add fresh tomato paste.
  • Avocado oil 1tbsp
  • Soy sauce 1tbsp
  • Liquid smoke 1 tbsp. It is used to give a smokiness flavor.

Instructions

Prepare the tasty vegan salami in two ways.

By using oven

  1. To bake, adjust the oven temperature to 375 degrees.
  2. Next, add all dry ingredients such as wheat gluten, smoked paprika, onion powder, red chili pepper, salt, garlic powder, fennel seeds, black pepper, and dried oregano in a mixing bowl.
  3. Mix all ingredients.
  4. Add all wet ingredients such as vegetable broth, avocado oil, tomato sauce, soy sauce, and liquid smoke into a small mixing bowl.
  5. Combine all ingredients.
  6. Stir the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients.
  7. Continuously stir it during transfer so that no lumps form.
  8. Knead the dough for three minutes or until it makes a thick dough.
  9. Placed this dough on a cutting board and cut it into two halves.
  10. Cut the dough into stripes about 6 inches long.
  11. First, we will cover the salami with parchment paper, and after that wrapped in an aluminum foil.
  12. Twist the end to keep the foil warped.
  13. Bake the wrapped salami for 30-40 minutes or until it’s soft and firm.
  14. During baking, change the sides of the salami so that it cooks well.
  15. Take the salami out of the oven once it’s done.
  16. Let it cool down to normal temperature.

  1. First, we will prepare the vegan salami.
  2. Add all dry ingredients like wheat gluten, smoked paprika, onion powder, red chili pepper, salt, garlic powder, fennel seeds, black pepper, and dried oregano in a large bowl.
  3. Combine all ingredients.
  4. Next, add all wet ingredients such as vegetable broth, avocado oil, tomato sauce, soy sauce, and liquid smoke into a small mixing bowl.
  5. Stir all ingredients thoroughly.
  6. Combine the wet ingredients with the dry ingredients. Continuously stir it during transfer so that no lumps form.
  7. Knead the dough for 2-3 minutes with the dough maker machine or until its texture is soft and fluffy.
  8. Shift the dough mixture to a clean surface, and split the dough in half.
  9. Cut the dough into stripes about 6 inches long.
  10. Now, wrap the salami into parchment paper and after that fold it into aluminum foil. Twist the end to keep the foil warped.
  11. To steam, add 1-2 cups water to a large pot in which the steamer basket fits.
  12. Over a high heat, boil the water.
  13. When water boils, lower the heat from high to slow.
  14. Now, add prepared salami to this steam basket.
  15. Cover the pot, and steam it for 30-40 minutes. But make sure that water won’t evaporate during this cooking time.
  16. After 40 minutes, check the salami. If it steams well, remove it from the flame.
  17. Let it cool the steam salami on the counter.
  18. After that, cut into slices and enjoy it.
