Ingredients:

  • 1 pound (16 oz) near meat (plant-based ground meat alternative)
  • 1 bunch chopped parsley
  • 1 1/2 cups cooked quinoa
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon Seven Spice (a blend of allspice, black pepper, cinnamon, cloves, coriander, cumin, and nutmeg)
  • Olive oil (for greasing the pan)
  • Lemon juice (to sprinkle on top)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the near meat, chopped parsley, cooked quinoa, finely chopped onion (if using), and Seven Spice. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are well combined.
  3. Form the mixture into small egg-shaped balls, about 1 1/2 inches in diameter.
  4. Lightly oil a baking pan with olive oil and place the formed kefta balls on the pan.
  5. Sprinkle the kefta balls with lemon juice.
  6. Place the pan in the preheated oven and bake for 30 minutes, or until the kefta balls are firm and slightly browned.
  7. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving.
  8. Serve the kefta balls with tahini sauce or hummus, and a variation of tabouli.
