Air Fryer Homemade Tortillas
Ingredients:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 cup warm water
Instructions:
- Prepare the Dough:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and salt. Mix well to distribute the salt evenly throughout the flour.
- Slowly pour in the olive oil and warm water while continuously mixing the ingredients. Mix thoroughly until a dough forms.
- Knead and Shape the Dough:
- Transfer the dough onto a lightly floured surface. Knead the dough gently several times until it becomes smooth and elastic.
- Form the dough into a ball and let it rest for a minute to relax the gluten.
- Divide and Roll Out the Dough:
- Divide the dough into 4 large or 8 small pieces, depending on the desired size of your tortillas.
- Take one piece of dough and place it on a piece of parchment paper. Cover it with another piece of parchment paper to prevent sticking. Using a rolling pin, roll out the dough until it is thin and flat.
- Place a large dinner plate or small appetizer plate on top of the rolled-out dough. Use a knife to cut around the edges of the plate, creating a round tortilla shape.
- Preheat the Air Fryer:
- Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (175°C) to ensure it’s ready for cooking.
- Cook the Tortillas:
- Lightly grease the air fryer basket with cooking spray or a small amount of oil.
- Carefully transfer the tortilla into the air fryer basket. Cook for 2-3 minutes, then flip it over and cook for an additional 2 minutes or until it reaches your desired level of crispness.
- Repeat the cooking process for the remaining tortillas, ensuring they are cooked evenly.
- Serve and Enjoy:
- Once cooked, remove the air-fried tortillas from the air fryer and let them cool slightly.
- Serve your homemade tortillas warm, perfect for wrapping up your favorite fillings for tacos, burritos, or quesadillas.
