Ingredients

  • 1 pre-seasoned tri-tip roast (about 1.5-2 lbs)
(Or season your own with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and your favorite rub)

Instructions

1. Preheat the Air Fryer

  • Set your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) and preheat for 5 minutes.

2. Sear the Tri-Tip

  1. Place the tri-tip in the air fryer basket.
  2. Cook at 400°F for 3 minutes on one side, then flip and cook for another 3 minutes on the other side.

3. Adjust Cooking Temperature

  • Lower the air fryer temperature to 340°F (170°C).

4. Finish Cooking

  1. Cook the tri-tip for 10 minutes.
  2. Flip the roast and cook for an additional 5 minutes.
  3. Use an instant-read thermometer to check the internal temperature. Aim for 130°F (54°C) for medium-rare.

5. Rest the Tri-Tip

  • Remove the tri-tip from the air fryer and let it rest on a cutting board for 10 minutes. The temperature will rise slightly during resting, ensuring the meat stays juicy.

Serving Suggestions

  • Slice the tri-tip thinly against the grain for the most tender pieces.
  • Serve with a side of roasted vegetables, mashed cauliflower, or a fresh green salad.
